Santos’ Party House Opens Upstairs Space

Last night, a couple of weeks after its downstairs opened, Andrew W.K.’s club Santos’ (a.k.a. Santa’s) Party House christened its upstairs space with a dance-tacular Body and Soul party. After sweating it out, we can say that Manhattan hipsters tired of schlepping out to Studio B for good D.J.’s will find a more than worthy replacement here — the room’s just a smidge smaller, but similarly minimal and airy, with two bars, black walls and ceilings, dark wood floors, and tall columns that are perfect for humping while you’re on Ecstasy. Though not yet fully installed, the sound system promises to do the cabaret license justice, with no less than sixteen five-cone speakers running the perimeter of the room. Do not come here unless you plan to dance — seating is almost nil.

In case you were wondering…

The club has now activated a “hotline” (212-714-4646), which should make it easier to find out what’s going on there every night (there will also be live shows), but this much is confirmed: Former Studio 54 D.J. Nicky Siano will start a Sunday-night residency this week, and we’ve heard the upstairs will also be open later this week for private parties for Visionaire and MisShapes. Of course, back when we predicted the Beatrice would be the destination of the season, one of the first parties there was for Visionaire. Just sayin’…
