Breaking: Roxy Owners Bail on Community-Board Meeting

Tonight’s Community Board 4 meeting, in which the Roxy was to plead a case for reopening, caused a stir among gay nightclubbers: Activist Ryan Davis went so far as to film a video plea in favor of a 4 a.m. closing time, as opposed to the 2 a.m. cutoff that’s becoming the norm (for more compelling viewing, check out the documentary about the Roxy that Michael Musto touted on his blog this morning). As it turns out, it may be all for naught: We’ve just learned that the club, without giving a reason, just withdrew its application for tonight’s Community Board 4 meeting. Whether this is a permanent withdrawal or just another delay remains to be seen, but, either way, any Roxyheads who were planning to attend the meeting should, well, go clubbing instead.
