Boqueria 2.0 Bursts Onto the Soho Scene

Last night, a slew of chefs including Andrew Carmellini, Anne Burrell, Noel Cruz, Akhtar Nawab, Zak Pelaccio, and Johnny Iuzzini packed into Boqueria Soho’s opening party to support their boy Seamus Mullen as he manned the griddles. The narrow space, which will open to the public tomorrow, has a sparse, Momofuku feel. Cava and sangria flowed, but couldn’t haze over the quality of the night’s never-ending assault of miniature tapas. Toasts were spread with blood sausage and topped with lush, fried quail eggs; seared cubes of lamb leaked gamey juice; and prepared bacalao didn’t taste as grossly salty as it might have. In short, everything was to the standards of the Chelsea location, and blessedly below 14th Street. The event’s menu is below.
