Serious Eats reprints a distressing e-mail from a volunteer who is trying desperately to save a New York institution. The institution in question is the Spanish Benevolent Society, located in a brownstone housing one of our favorite restaurants in the city, La Nacional. Our love of this hidden spots paella and its cafs rough-hewn charm is no secret (in fact, were mentioned in the letter) this is the place to watch Real Madrid games, and the sort of tapas bar where English is definitely the second language. The full letter, including information on upcoming fund-raiser events, is over at Serious Eats.
