Grant Achatz appeared on an Oprah episode about medical mistakes yesterday to discuss his struggle with misdiagnosed tongue cancer. Now practically a foodie ghost story, Achatz described his treatment options: live for six months or lose his tongue. His reaction? “There’s absolutely no way you can do this. Do you realize who I am, what I do? I’m a chef. Cooking and tasting and creating food is my passion,” he told Oprah. “Certainly what they were recommending was a very severe treatment that would compromise a lot of aspects of my life.
