First Look: Spanky’s Reopens As (You Guessed It!) a Burger Bar

Jon Bloostein, owner of the Heartland Brewery restaurants, tells us that last week he reopened his fun-lovin’ barbecue joint, Spanky’s, as HB Burger. Though the décor has been stripped down and gussied up a bit, nothing on the menu is over $9, including the house burger (a blend of flank, chuck, and prime rib), the mini-burgers (which you can see in the slideshow), the tater tots stuffed with bacon and jalapeño cheese, the sashimi-grade tuna burger with wasabi sauce and ginger slaw, homemade sodas, and “the world’s smallest hot-fudge sundae” (well, we should hope the latter isn’t over $9). Click through for the full menu — take a look at the variety of toppings and you’ll see Bloostein is beating the Whopper Bar to the punch.
