A First Look at Pump Energy Food’s Sexy Makeover

Like Tasti D-Lite, Pump Energy Food is undergoing a much-needed revamp. Frankly, we’ve always associated the chain with Naked Cowboy types who’d take a protein bar over poussin every time, but relatively new CEO Adam Eskin is trying to change all that, with the help of former Chipotle branding executive Dan Fogarty. The team has hired Hill Country’s designer, Garrett Singer, to give their new stores a more attractive look. The flagship, opening in the financial district on Friday, comes complete with shoeshine station and seats that were custom built by a weight-bench manufacturer (okay, so they haven’t escaped their roots that much). The rejiggered menu, which you can see here, incorporates new recipes, but health nuts can rest assured the kitchen still steers clear of frying, and favors lean proteins, legumes, nutrient-dense vegetables, and “good fats” over mayonnaise and processed foods. So what does the owner like to eat? Well, just look at his food diary. Dude recently downed two dozen egg whites in a day.
