Not gonna lie, El Rey del Sol had some of the city’s worst frozen margaritas (never mind the food), but it also had one of its nicest and most spacious back gardens — albeit one that was usually overrun by NYU students. It won’t be reopening this season, as a sign on the façade and a disconnected phone number attest. We’re anxious to see who takes over the space and how they’ll make use of the picnic tables.
