Now, this is something that just boggles our mind. Ed’s Lobster Bar has taken its banana split off of the dessert menu. We’re told the thing wasn’t selling all that well. In addition to the usual ice-cream sandwich (two scoops in a toasted hot-dog roll), Ed’s now offers a lemon tart as well as a tartufo (a hazelnut-chocolate gelato with chocolate coating) and a tartoni (a vanilla gelato coated with toasted almond and coconut), made exclusively for the restaurant by Il Laboratorio del Gelato. Which is exciting. But this is one less banana split during a time of patriotic need.
