Sidewalk Sipping and Supping: What’s New on the West Side

The West Side has lost its share of sidewalk cafés (Matador, Sheridan Square, Tosca, Ostia), but blessed be, it has gained some, too, despite what a frustrated employee at Spunto calls “the bureaucracy of New York City restaurants” (the owners there are still “fighting” for sidewalk seats). A recent scouring revealed that not only has Arturo Di Modica’s gleaming silver bull returned to Cipriani Downtown’s outdoor area (making up for the black one that disappeared from outside of Scuderia), but several brand-new sidewalk spots have opened, as well. Here’s a rundown, along with the number of seats.

10 Downing – 34
Favela Cubana – 30
La Carbonara - 10
Mezzaluna – 6
Ritz Asia – 16
Scuderia – 34
Smith’s – 8
Sora Lella – 20
Steak Frites – 38

Of course, we’ll add these to our expansive (and ever expanding) sidewalk-café map. And tip us off if a new outdoor spot has opened near you.
