Doughnut Day: Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Offer Freebies

It’s National Doughnut Day, and we’re headed to Chinatown’s divey Donut Shop, where the menu spells “eclaire” as “egg clear.” As promised, Dunkin’ Donuts is giving away free doughnuts with the purchase of a drink, and now, per Serious Eats, Krispy Kreme has announced it, too, will give each costumer a donut, drink order or not. Plus (in case you were dying to know!), Dunkin’ has announced the winner of its doughnut contest, Toffee for Your Coffee, a glazed sour cream–cake doughnut topped with chopped Heath bar. It’ll be available in September. And at the Doughnut Plant today: carrot cake, crème brûlée, and raspberry jelly.
