Only 200 of the city’s 1,000 produce carts are on the streets, but reaction is already heated. “[B]usiness is so good that we are staying open 24 hours a day,” says one cart operator in Washington Heights. And a Fordham deli manager complains: “A guy might buy a piece of fruit there instead of coming in here for a soda.” [NYT]
