This week, fifth-graders helped Michelle Obama pick 73 pounds of lettuce and 12 pounds of peas from her $200-start-up White House Garden. The crops don’t use chemicals, so blame the rain: The 1,100-square-foot space has so far yielded 153 pounds of lettuce. [WP via NYDN]
