Wakiya Fire Sale: Everything Must Go!

Danny Meyer has already named a chef for his Gramercy Park Hotel restaurant, but we hear the space won’t be gutted for another month or so. In the meantime, Ian Schrager Company has contracted antiques salesman Mark Naylon of Modern Living Supplies to hold an everything-must-go sale at the former Wakiya this Saturday through next Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. That’s right, all of the restaurant’s custom-built Gilles Bossier furniture and fixtures (twelve-foot banquettes! Hand-forged bronze tables!) are up for grabs — even the lights will be removed upon request. But wait — that’s not all, folks! Naylon tells us that at the end of the month, he’ll be back in the Wakiya space for a larger sale of Ian Schrager’s warehouse items through the past two decades, including furnishings from his hotels and model apartments, and even items from the old Gramercy Park Hotel lounge (sorry, big spenders, no Philippe Starck pieces). In the meantime, stop in to the Wakiya cash-and-carry, if only to take one last macabre look.
