After a handful of months in the kitchen, Doug Psaltis wasn’t able to bring Smith’s back from the brink, especially after that Bruni pan. A construction worker tells Eater it will reopen as a third location of Danny Abrams’s other restaurant, Mermaid Inn. A flack says “it’s just talk right now,” but it looks like MacDougal Street will not only have an outpost of Second Avenue’s Bar Carrera, but also of Second Avenue’s Mermaid right across the way!
