First Look at Xie Xie, Now Serving Asian Lobster Rolls and Juice-Box Wine

Angelo Sosa’s Xie Xie was expected to open late last month, but it didn’t actually start taking customers until yesterday. We’ve already shown you the menu, but we haven’t yet seen the place — and unlike most sandwich joints, it really is worth a look. Among other trippy elements, Therese Virserius (formerly a designer for Ikea in Shanghai) has outfitted the walls with multicolored decorative fortune cookies. Xie Xie (which is pronounced “Shay Shay” and means “thank-you” in Mandarin) is now open from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and is indeed serving the juice-box wines mentioned earlier. The St. Marks location we told you about last year is now expected to open in the fall.
