Just like when the Giants and Eagles battled for the NFC Championship and Bloomberg bet a cheesecake against Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter’s cheesesteak, Chuck Schumer and fellow New York senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand are betting some cheesecakes that the Yanks will take the series. (Couldn’t they at least have mixed it up a bit — a Katz’s pastrami versus a hoagie? Or a coveted table at Minetta Tavern versus … nevermind.) City Room smells hypocrisy, since Gillibrand was just railing against obesity, but no worries: If Pennsylvania senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey ever see footage of the rat-fest at Junior’s, the bet will be off anyway.
