Tonight, Orchard co-owner Xerxes Novoa, manager Jonathan Duke, and chef Chris Frakes (EU, Butcher Bay) open El Ay Si, named for its location in Long Island City (Get it? Get it?). The partners designed El Ay Si as neighborhood hangout with entrées mostly under $20, a "kidz" menu, and a low-key, votive-lit setting anchored by a salvaged, dark-wood bar. Frakes channels the South (fried chicken) and Italy (wild-mushroom agnolotti) in his global menu, below. Hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. and weekend brunch runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Click through the slideshow to see the space and some of the food.
