The country’s first 100 percent Chilean wine shop, Puro Wine, recently opened in Soho (according to a release from Wines of Chile, it stocks wines from 50 Chilean vineyards). Meanwhile, across the bridge, a wine shop with a more local focus, the Brooklyn Wine Exchange, is up and running as of 3 p.m. today.

Patrick Watson (Smith & Vine, Stinky Bklyn), Chris Modica (D’Amico Foods), and Joseph Mastriano (the Tango boutique) are among the partners, and they hope to offer the largest New York state wine selection in the city (filling the void that Vintage New York left when it closed). To that end, they’re the first to offer bottles from Red Hook Winery. Many of the 1,000-plus bottles will come from family owned organic wineries around the world, and there will also be a 40-seat learning center where members and non-members can participate in casual tastings.
