While restaurants all over town embrace fried chicken and shrimp and grits in hopes of hooking customers with comfort food, a fixture of the scene, the Pink Tea Cup, will close on January 3. The soul-food spot opened in 1957 (and moved to its current location in 1982), but we’re told a rent increase is pushing it out. “We’re trying to get another location but we’re not sure,” an employee told us today (our tipster overheard a waiter saying one possible location was around the corner). We’ll let you know when we hear more.
