Anella, the Greenpoint restaurant that lost its chef, Michael Sullivan, back in September, has announced its new executive chef, Joseph Ogrodnek, will start in early February. According to the release, Ogrodnek, a CIA grad, has worked as lead line cook at Union Square Café, Chef de Partie at Alain Ducasse at the Essex House, and sous-chef at both Gramercy Tavern and Jean Georges at the Mark. In addition to bread and pizza baked in a brick oven, Ogrodnek plans to serve a local-minded menu (as in, certain vegetables will come from the back garden), including whipped ricotta, macaroni and cheese, potato-crusted chatham cod, and pork-and-bean cassoulet.
