Breslin’s Basement Speakeasy Will Open in Spring-Summer

Following up on word that Ken Friedman is considering a Tin Pan Alley–themed speakeasy in the basement of the Breslin, BlackBook discovers that it’s most definitely a go, and even gets Friedman to take them on the tour of the “catacomb with multiple rooms, nooks and corners hidden about.” Problem is, the space (the history of which is still a mystery) is so hard to find that not even Friedman can remember how to get there: “On our way down, Friedman got lost a few times and had to ask various hotel staff members to remind him where the space was.” Nice and hidden from disgruntled mosque-goers! It will open in spring or early summer, and Friedman may call it Jersey Joe’s, after a boxer who was involved in a historic boxing match that took place in the basement of the Breslin Hotel.
