Cheep’s Slips Into Cinderella Falafel Space

Though the closing of East Village cheap-eats fixture Cinderella Falafel didnt receive as much fanfare as, say, the case of Rays Candy Store, Yelpers took notice. Take the guy who wrote: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! And: Your passing has left a falafel void in my heart that nowhere in the East Village can fill. Well, a newcomer is attempting to fill that void. Take a look at Cheeps Pita Creations, which opened a little over a week ago. Just how cheep is Cheeps? Well, a shawarma pita is $3.75 (50 cents more with hummus), a hummus pita is $2, and, finally, a falafel pita is $2 (which is actually $1 more than it was, at one point, at Cinderella).

Platters are from $3.75 to $7.50. No baklava, but there are Belgian fries (no competition to neighboring Pommes Frites, rest assured). The owners (no affiliation with Cinderella, we were told by an employee, though that same employee told us the recipe was more or less the same) have given the place a vaguely Maoz makeover, but dammit, we still miss Cinderella.
