Wine War Fermenting in Red Hook

We’ve heard of neighbors contesting liquor licenses, but other businesses? That’s what’s happening in Red Hook, according to the Brooklyn Paper. They report that a new wine store on Van Brunt Street, Botta di Vino, was approved by the SLA only to suffer a setback when the owners of a nearby shop, Dry Dock, “stormed into the hearing and convinced the commissioners to reopen the case due to stunning last-minute evidence.” The “stunning” evidence? Botta hadn’t removed something on its website that implied customers would be able to enjoy a glass of wine in its courtyard. They’ll have another hearing March 31.
