Choptank Gets Crabby As Chesapeake Crustaceans Boom

Time to get hammered! The Baltimore Sun reports that the Chesapeake Bays blue crabs are thriving again, two years after dwindling population levels forced a crackdown on harvesting. There are now an estimated 568 million crabs, but officials dont expect to loosen restrictions, and say its too early to tell whether prices will go down. Either way, therell be no shortage of them at Choptank starting tomorrow night were told thats when the Maryland-minded restaurant begins offering daily crab feasts in its backyard, as well as inside. Call at least 24 hours in advance to reserve a spot and specify the size and amount of crabs you want. Theyre sold at market price (by the dozen) and come with three sides, such as green beans, new potatoes, and buttered white bread.
