The most enticing thing we’ve seen written on a pizza box lately was on that of the recently renovated Elegante Pizzeria in Seaside, Queens: “WE DELIVER TO THE BEACH.” But if you prefer words like ORGANIC and VEGAN and GLUTEN-FREE on your pizza boxes, here are a few news bits. First, according to a sign on the window, Kesté is now serving gluten-free pizza (margherita and marinara pies made with gluten-free Caputo flour) on Monday and Tuesday evenings. And a block away, national chain Z Pizza is opening its first New York location (not including its branch at JFK) at 288 Bleecker Street. A poster trumpets whole-wheat dough and organic ingredients. And finally, according to a press release, PETA has given its Compassionate Teen Award to a Long Island teenager who added vegan pizzas to his family restaurant, 3 Brothers.
