Well, the charade is finally over. In February, the Waverly Inn announced that John DeLucie was taking a “leave of absence” to open the Lion, but last week it became clear the break was probably permanent when we e-mailed him at his Waverly address and our message bounced. Still, on Monday, a rep assured us DeLucie was “currently on a leave of absence from the Waverly getting The Lion up and running. He remains the founding chef and partner of The Waverly.” But now Sean MacPherson of the Waverly tells Diner’s Journal it’s official: The new chef is Eric Korsh, who has worked at Prune and Patroon, and won’t change the menu much.
