How Exclusive Will the Standard’s New Roofdeck Be?

The Boom Boom Room (or the Top of the Standard, as it’s now officially called) may have been the most selective in a recent Post undercover operation in which nerds, “guidettes,” and suburban dads tried to get through the city’s tightest doors (well, not quite the tightest — SL, Kenmare, and the Jane weren’t attempted), but it’s a little-known fact that you can actually get into the Boom Boom anytime between 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., so long as you don’t wear flip-flops, sneakers, shorts, or caps (just walk in for a cocktail at the bar, or call anytime after noon for a table reservation). Only after 8:30 p.m. does the killjoy door-person show up.

We’re told the policy will be the same for the outdoor roofdeck, which by the looks of an UrbanDaddy slideshow will have pink waterbeds — but don’t try waltzing up there just yet. The Daddy says it opens tonight, but we’re told its public launch date is still TBD.
