If you’re on a mission to scarf all 101 of New York’s best sandwiches, you might want to wait a few days before visiting Cheeky Sandwiches. Owner Din Yates tells us that he’s out of that crackly yet light and airy bread that Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld sung the praises of in their review and is awaiting his next shipment from John Gendusa Bakery in New Orleans. Yin didn’t seem to be sweating the ill-timed shortage when he denied us a po’ boy and steered us toward the braised-beef short-rib sandwich (which he says is the only thing on the menu he tends to recommend, since he likes it and it’s easy to make), but then it wouldn’t be a Nawlins sandwicherie without a little bit of laissez faire.
