Franois Payard broke ground recently at 116 West Houston, his first downtown foray. The eponymous bakery-caf a partnership with A Voce owner Marlon Abela is on schedule for a late summer opening. As you can see from these renderings, the former My Befana space is getting a complete overhaul. Payard plans large, windowed kitchens to entertain his takeout visitors, as well as the folks occupying the twenty-seat casual-dining room. The famous macarons will, of course, be available though Houston Street lunch eaters will no doubt be pleased to note that the menu at Franois Payard Bakery also extends to the savory, including sandwiches made on fresh-baked bread.
