Sometime fairly recently, Balthazar’s gorgeous back bar (previously graced by a lone French calendar) experienced the ultimate aesthetic affront: garish Health Department warning signs! Now you can’t enjoy a nightcap at the glowing bar without contemplating fetal alcohol syndrome. The giant “CHOKING” sign, in particular, is enough to make you gag. Sure, a new study indicates that mothers who drink during pregnancy are more likely to have sons with lower sperm counts, but still — c’est ridicule!
