Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss of Marquee and Avenue are gearing up to bring their Vegas cash cow, Lavo, to the former Au Bar space at 41 East 58th Street — a Craigslist ad indicates the Italian restaurant and nightclub will open summer 2010. Meanwhile, in Soho, neighbors are protesting a new one from the owner of Miami Beach’s Santo (said to have been named one of the top ten “Sexiest Places in North America” by Playboy magazine). Here’s the flyer we’ve noticed posted around the neighborhood.

The Friends of Hudson Square, Inc., 512 Greenwich St., 1st Floor, NYC, NY 10013

NEW NIGHT CLUB PLANNED FOR: 315 Spring St.

North East Corner of Greenwich and Spring — currently a furniture store

The owner of a very loud and popular Miami Beach Night Club named “SANTO” wants to open a large night club with “DJ” and live music.

The friends of Hudson Square met with the owner. He stated that the new Club would be the same as “SANTO”.

We believe that the neighborhood does not needs such a large late night venue.

Community Board #2 will hold a public hearing on their Liquor License Application.

We ask everyone who can attend:

MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY BOARD #2
SLA LICENSING, Raymond Lee, Chair
Tues., 7/13 @ 6:30 PM-
NYU Silver Building, 32 Waverly Pl. Room 408- (I.D. Required)

“Corp to be formed d/b/a TDB, 315 Spring St., NYC 10013”

The friends of Hudson Square will oppose this application

Apparently the denizens of Spring Street, already facing a new club from Paul Sevigny and Nur Khan, are refusing to be seduced by (in the words of Santo’s website) “the essence of the luxurious, seductive Miami lifestyle.”
