Spotted Pig Team Lets Go of New Project; the Smile Wants to Open a Breastaurant

On the heels of defeating Il Bucos pig roast, Community Board 2s NIMBYs have chalked up another one: Eater reports that Ken Friedman and April Bloomfield ditched plans to open a small breakfast and lunch spot (with wine and snacks at night) at 322 West 11th Street after neighbors griped at last nights Community Board 2 meeting. Everyone knows you have to pick your battles when it comes to the community board, and thats why the owners of the Smile are trying to replace Mystique Gentlemans Club at 75 Clarkson Street with a 300-seat adult entertainment restaurant/cabaret. Needless to say, they didnt get the boards support, but the board did give its blessing to Harold Dieterles new project. Click over to Eater to hear about new projects from Joey Campanaro, Clo Wine Bar, Xunta, and the owners of Elettaria, who are looking to reopen the restaurant without Akhtar Nawab.
