After the usual delays, Little Cupcake Bakeshop has opened its Nolita store. As previously mentioned, this second LCB location offers the same menu of cakes, pies, puddings, and cookies as the Bay Ridge original, plus a couple of new cupcakes named after Mott Street and Coney Island, and an Illy espresso bar. This 36-seat room was built using green materials, such as recycled-denim insulation. The packaging is biodegradable, the store is 100 percent wind-powered, and Massimo LoBuglio (who owns the joint with his brother Luigi) has pledged to keep a carbon “scorecard” in the window, in addition to donating a portion of profits to carbon-reduction efforts. All that should quite nicely distinguish it from the location of Billy’s Bakery that’s due to open nearby at Elizabeth Street near Houston next month, but what about the cupcakes?! You can see a few of them, and the space itself, in our slideshow.
