“Lowcountry” refers to a coastal region of South Carolina, and also to the culinary theme of this stripped-down successor to Bar Blanc, slated to open next week. Vintage blues and gospel LPs are stacked on shelves in the dining room, bottles of booze are displayed in cubbies in back, and a photomontage of musicians has been installed in the foyer. Bourbon enlivens both the cocktail list and the menu, in dishes like bourbon-cider-glazed pork chop and banana-bread pudding with bourbon anglaise. Other de rigueur items for this decidedly southern moment: pimiento spread, shrimp and grits, and fried chicken with a Cheddar biscuit and Benton’s country-ham gravy.
