Jean-Luc Naret, the dapper Frenchman tasked with selling Michelin to skeptical new markets such as New York and Tokyo (and who couldn’t manage to sell it to L.A.), is stepping down, according to Diner’s Journal. No longer will he have to robotically defend the guide against criticism of French bias, and he can officially retire his mantra, “We’re only looking at what’s on the plate.” Naret will now be a consultant for the company.
