Sour News: Guss Won’t Return to Lower East Side for Pickle Day

This weekend’s going to be a delicious one on the Lower East Side: In addition to the Grub Street Food Festival on Saturday, there’s International Pickle Day on Sunday, from 11 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. There’ll be free samples from Divine Brine, Pickle Guys, Brooklyn Brine, and others. The event’s site says Guss will be there, too, but sadly, the shop that moved from the Lower East Side to Borough Park last year won’t actually be returning for the day. “We don’t have time to do that,” proprietor Patricia Fairhurst tells us. Will anyone serve pickled eggs? We’re not sure, but how great is this cup of them we scored this morning at the Moncton airport after a salmon run to Nova Scotia? Speaking of salmon, Russ & Daughters blogs that it’ll be offering pickled lox at the festival.
