Last night at Osteria Morini, a grinning Michael White was in the house, greeting diners and — in our case — answering questions about his upcoming restaurant, Ai Fiori. White told us the project's delays (it was first slated for the 22nd, and most recently for the 29th) are owing to a still-pending liquor license. A preview party that had been scheduled for tonight has been pushed back, since, after all, you can't entertain mobs of journalists and investors without booze! Though White still expressed hope that the restaurant will open in the next few weeks, we've seen how these situations can drag on and on. Chef Bianco also commented that originally he'd just wanted to open a "salad place" in the space. Could that mean lunch service might be in the cards for Fiori, if the SLA continues to drag its feet?
