Depending on last-minute issues, Glaze Teriyaki Grill may or may not open this week, but with Asian fast-casual on everyone’s trend-ometer (witness Sensebowl’s opening last week), you’re going to want to go ahead and take a look. The owner, Spotlight Live co-creator Paul Krug, is a Seattle native who’s hoping to make teriyaki joints take off in New York like they did in his hometown (no disrespect, Teriyaki Boy). To that end, his executive chef Dennis Lake (formerly executive chef at Rosa Mexicano) will be charcoal-grilling natural, local ingredients (whenever possible) and glazing them in a smoky-sweet sauce (made from apple, pineapple, garlic, and ginger) that can be as mild or hot as you want it. Check out the menu and the space while we await an opening date.
