Coney Island Eight Are Finally Dragged Into Court

Baby it’s cold outside, so why is our mind on Coney Island? Well, the Post reports that Zamperla has finally gone and filed its lawsuit against the Coney Island Eight, just like the boardwalk businesses’ lawyer told us would happen. Zamperla says the beloved eateries are creating a “hardship” by attempting to block the creation of Phony Island, and wants to fine the mom and pops $2,000 a day — the kind of fines only a multinational food-service corporation can afford! In a longer piece about the lawsuit, Amusing the Zillion reports that the evicted businesses will have a court hearing this Friday; the notice from Zamperla’s attorneys states that “time is of the essence” since “the license premises are an integral part of redevelopment.” Boo freaking hoo.
