Ivy Stark: ‘I Am Not Opening a Restaurant in Brooklyn’

Earlier today, the Carroll Gardens Patch reported that Dos Caminos chef Ivy Stark had designed the menu for a new restaurant, Diego. They claimed to have gotten the scoop directly from owner James Geritano, but Stark now sends us a statement saying that, “This has all been blown out of proportion — need to set the record straight.” The rest of her statement follows.

I am not opening a restaurant in Brooklyn, and I am certainly not leaving B.R. Guest and Dos Caminos where I have just taken on the role of corporate chef and am in the midst of working on a 2nd Dos Caminos cook book … James is a local friend that I helped source a chef for his new Mexican spot. There are so many talents out there looking for work with the state of the economy I helped out so that I can then frequent a neighborhood spot with great food.

By the way, my dog’s name is Diego but also the name for James in Spanish.

On the other hand, back in October, an anonymous commenter told Pardon Me for Asking that the restaurant would be Mexican, “with the person from Dos Caminos in Manhattan,” and the Patch has updated their original item saying that the restaurant’s owner “stands by what he told us.” Either way, don’t expect to see Ivy Stark standing at the pass.
