A tipster e-mailed to say that three Williamsburg specialty stores, Bedford Cheese Shop, Whisk kitchen supplies, and Uva Wines and Spirits, are expanding to the Flatiron district. A call to Uva manager Beau Rapier reveals that that's mostly true. Rapier says the owners of Whisk are likely bringing another location of their shop, plus a wine store, Flatiron Wines and Spirits, to a three-store retail space under construction on Broadway between 21st and 22nd Streets. (The wine store won't be a direct offshoot of Uva, but some of the same people, including Rapier, who will be the buyer, are involved.) The building is expected to be ready by June, though you know how that goes. Rapier also told Grub Street that Bedford Cheese Shop has leased the third retail space. It's nice to see the Manhattan-to-Williamsburg trend reaching both ways!
