Brooklyn Brewery Expands; Heartland Rolls Out the Barrels of Whiskey

While the Post reports that Brooklyn Brewery has completed the planned expansion of its Williamsburg plant (Garrett Oliver will celebrate with a new Main Engine Start beer), Heartland Brewery sends news of its own. Back in 2009, we told you that brewmaster Kelly Taylor was making whiskey with Tuthilltown Spirits. Well, there are now 300 bottles of it, and Heartland will be selling $10 pours at all of its locations starting next week. The whiskey consists of hopped and un-hopped wort from a single batch of Farmer Jon’s Oatmeal Stout, with yeast added to ferment the beer to a higher alcohol level — all twice distilled and aged in oak barrels. Have at it!
