Maryland Crabcakes Battle Maine Lobster Rolls at the New Foodshed Market

Open a few months now, the Foodshed Market hasn’t received as much fanfare as other foodie weekend destinations (Hester Street Fair, Brooklyn Flea, etc.), but the Sunday farmers’ market that sets up at the Commons (a community and educational center at 388 Atlantic Avenue near Bond Street in Boerum Hill) has been quietly hosting local farmers as well as vendors like Better Butter, Orwashers, and Raaka Chocolate. Now the folks at Luke’s Lobster tell us the Foodshed is setting up an upstairs prepared foods section, and Luke’s will be cooking next to National Crab, a start-up selling Chesapeake Bay crabcakes and soup. New England’s favorite sandwich will battle the mid-Atlantic’s!

Also on offer: Dimples Dumplings, Corey Belle’s vegan soups, Pure Goodies toffee, Swoon Sweets and Savories, and Beyond Kombucha. This Sunday from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m., there’ll be free tastings, laco-ferment demonstrations, and … live folk music? Oh, Brooklyn.
