Natural Wine Company Weathers a Fire

While Lower East Side falafel joint Three Monkeys suffered major fire damage in a blaze last night, the Natural Wine Company in Williamsburg fared luckier in a recent conflagration. Turns out on Wednesday night someone left a sander on at the construction site of a soon-to-open Yoga to the People, directly above the wine store, and the resulting fire set off sprinklers downstairs and caused the shop to shutter for most of yesterday. Our tipster informs us that thankfully damage wasn’t serious, and most important of all, not a single bottle of booze was harmed. Though next time you sip a purchase with “charred” or “toasted” notes, you’ll have to wonder. If you’d like to toast to the shop’s good luck, it’s holding tastings of wines from the Jura region for the next week or so.
