It’s official: The Rum House will reopen in Times Square on Monday, with Ward III’s Michael Neff, Kenneth McCoy, and Abdul Tabini helming the good ship. If you’re the brooding type who loved the old Edison Hotel’s bar in its nicotine-stained decrepitude, you may be bummed to hear that, as previously mentioned, the trio lightened things up by replacing the green carpet with tiles, covering the banquettes in red leather, and restoring one of the nautical light fixtures (the lanterns from another now hang above the bar). But if you’re a cocktail connoisseur, you’ll be delighted to see the new drink list below.

The old piano has been replaced by an upright and there’s no word on whether Karen Brown will return, but entertainment curator Johnny Pork Pie, the “burlesque mayor of New York,” will keep the ivories tickled. The food will be limited to simple bar bites, but eventually the weekends may bring a bagel buffet and a selection of Bloody Marys. In the meantime, she’s open daily, 11 a.m. till 4 a.m.
