What to Eat at Niko, Opening Monday in Soho

The impending opening of Niko—in the second-story Soho space previously occupied by soba specialist Honmura An—is notable for two reasons: The sushi bar is helmed by a Sushi Yasuda and Morimoto veteran and will offer some sustainable options, and there’s a “cooked” menu that bears the distinctive mark of consulting chef and partner Josh DeChellis. He’s found a golden opportunity to revive some of our favorite deep-fried hits from his excellent but short-lived BarFry, including tempura squash and Sriracha-salted Maine sweet shrimp. Prices may change, but for now here’s a look at what’s in store.
