The Fat Radish and its veggie-forward cooking might be in the spotlight right now, but nearby Brown Caf has been serving Greenmarket eats on the lower Lower East Side since the area was a bit dodgier, a decade ago. In honor of its tenth anniversary, the eatery has brought on board a new consulting toque, Mehdi Chellaoui, a chocolatier and former P. Diddy personal chef, who designs the weekly menu (which drops each Tuesday). "We had a daily menu and we just found that people would come and they just really wanted the chicken or the steak they had a few days ago," explains manager Kathryn Carter. Popular dishes will likely be added to the menu for good, like the restaurant's always-available macaroni and cheese. Scope that out below, along with the rest of this week's lineup.
