Just You, Gabrielle Hamilton, Peter Meehan, and Some Wine

In his latest Time column, Josh Ozersky wonders why Grant Achatz’s memoir isn’t getting as much attention as Gabrielle Hamilton’s and decides that Hamilton’s book is the one that best “captures the essence of contemporary cool when it comes to food” (he cites the passage where she outlines her vision for Prune: “I wanted a place with a Velvet Underground CD that made you nod your head and feel warm with recognition”). It’s fitting, then, that powerHouse has paired her up with another author that has his finger on the pulse of contemporary cool, Peter Meehan. The co-author of the Momofuku and Frankies cookbooks will be in conversation with her at powerHouse Books on March 2 from 7 till 9 p.m. If you’re wondering whether to go to this or to her March 1 conversation with Anthony Bourdain, consider these words from the good folks at powerHouse: “Drinks will be served.” Just RSVP to rsvp@powerHouseArena.com.
