When the Paramount Bar opens inside the Paramount Hotel on April 12, it won’t lack for throwback-glam touches. But amid the glitzy chandeliers, plush banquettes, and oversize black-and-white photos, one detail is anything but retro: a female-centric D.J. lineup featuring a rotating Wednesday to Saturday roster of three lady spinners, Anna Cavazos, Charlotte Balibar, and Nicole Leone. Cocktails like the Gotham Manhattan (Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Chambord, and angostura bitters) and the Red Velvet (Hendricks Gin, sugar, lemon, and muddled blackberries) are meant to evoke the hotel’s retro heyday, though the $14 prices on those, not to mention a quick glance at the bottle-service options, will snap drinkers back to present times. Hours are Sunday through Thursday 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Friday and Saturday 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. So far, no word on whether you’ll be able to get cocktail delivery at the hood’s alfresco plazas.
